Overall description of the breed
The Arasier is a new breed of horse, resulting from the cross between purebred Arabians and Turkmen Akhal-Teke. This breed, dubbed the "super-thoroughbred," is designed for performance and attracts the interest of owners seeking fast and enduring horses. Arasiers are particularly suited for demanding events such as racing, show jumping, and endurance. They are also suitable for amateur riders looking for high-quality mounts, and their aesthetic value is undeniably appreciated. Experienced riders who seek a horse that matches their ambitions will find the Arasier an excellent choice.
The origin of the Arasier traces back to the Classic Performance Stud in Solms, where this breed was created by crossing an Akhal-Teke stallion with a purebred Arabian mare. The breed is now a registered trademark, and only horses approved by this stud can claim this designation. It is worth noting that similar crosses were made in the past, particularly to create the Munigi Arabians. From the inception of the breed, it was clear that Arasiers were intended for an elite. Therefore, the sale of these horses is mainly directed at clients willing to invest in exceptional mounts, whether individual owners or high-level equestrian schools. Arasiers are registered with the ZSAA (Zuchtverband Für Sportpferde Arabischer Abstammung).
Arasiers have inherited complementary characteristics from their founding breeds. The Arabian contributes its endurance and beauty, while the Akhal-Teke, a lesser-known but influential breed in the creation of many European sport horses of the warmblood type, adds robustness and temperament. The Arasier is distinguished by its good character, work ethic, and great endurance. The aptitude for galloping and rapid recovery after exertion are notable qualities of this breed, making it particularly attractive for endurance events. In dressage and show jumping, Arasiers allow for achieving a higher performance level. In competitions, they reveal their full potential against other breeds.
In terms of morphology, Arasiers measure an average of 15.3 hands (160 cm) at the withers, although no maximum limit is set. Their coat is soft and fine, with varied shades including golden, silver, and cream reflections, as well as the cremello or perlino variants. The silhouette of the Arasier is a compromise between the square shape of the Arabian horses and the rectangular shape of the Akhal-Teke, resulting in a well-proportioned body. Before acquiring an Arasier, it is crucial to verify all information regarding its lineage. Adhering to the breeding goals, particularly the ratio of Akhal-Teke and Arabian ancestry, is essential. Only the most performant stallions and mares are selected for breeding, ensuring the quality of the breed.
Selling an Arasier often involves establishing a strong and lasting bond with its owner, as this breed easily forms attachments. Providing appropriate care and suitable training allows these horses to excel in various equestrian disciplines, ensuring many years of satisfaction for their owners. The Classic Performance Stud continues to play a central role in preserving and developing this exceptional breed, ensuring that each Arasier maintains the high standards that make it a preferred choice for equestrian enthusiasts around the world.
