About:

When I started hunting, the choice of the Braque Saint Germain became obvious. This beautiful French pointing dog, resulting from a cross between a pointer bitch and a French braque, was created about two centuries ago for the king of France who hunted pheasants in the Compiègne forest. That is why it is sometimes called Compiègne braque in some ancient books. It was then bred in the royal kennels of Saint Germain-en-Laye, the city that gave it its definitive name.

The Braque Saint Germain has a very reliable nose, very gentle bite with a usually natural rapport. It is a galloper who explores the terrain widely, hunts all small game and particularly loves feathers. A natural pointer, it is very comfortable in the field, but does not hesitate to go into the woods or water. Very close to its master, it hunts for him and poses no problem with other breeds due to its particularly well-balanced character and very gentle temperament. This ease of use is also found in everyday life, within the family, where it is a beloved companion of children.

The Braque Saint Germain has many qualities: efficiency, elegance, gentleness. But it also has a flaw: being rare. All these reasons, as well as the desire to contribute to saving a breed belonging to the national genetic heritage, led me to adopt the Braque Saint Germain.

When I acquired my first Braque Saint Germain, I was fortunate to meet Gilbert Lenglet, a passionate breeder who had been raising Saint Germains for over 25 years. "Beauty and goodness," he told me as he explained to me how he had selected the lines of his small family breeding. In the fields, in fields as well as in exhibition rings, the dogs "du Bois d'Heilly" were often noticed and rewarded.

Manon du Bois d'Heilly lived up to this reputation and for over thirteen years, she brought me much joy. Thanks to this dog, I also met passionate breeders, including Nicole Delargille, owner of Jonas de Rosa Bonheur, Manon's father, who was a feared competitor in the entire 7th group.

Today, the generous blood of the lines they have bred for decades is found in their descendants. It is this search for the good and the beautiful that I pursue in turn. What use would a working champion be if he does not have the characteristics of his breed, and what use would a hunting champion be if he is unable to hunt?

For all these reasons, I continue to select perfectly typed, very hunting and very well-balanced dogs. Hunting with an elegant, brilliant and very close dog provides a pleasure that must be experienced to understand what the Saint Germain is.
